Review: Rampage

“Rampage,” directed by Brad Peyton and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, combines the elements of action and science fiction to form a incredibly intense and action-packed film. If you are not a fan of immense amounts of blood and violence, this movie is not for you whatsoever. However, if you like watching movies of that nature, you will fall in love with this movie.

Based on the well-known arcade game, “Rampage” is a story of stopping the destruction of three genetically modified animals. It is up to a primatologist, scientist and government agent to put a halt to these laboratory disasters in this case.

When the previews first came out, many were ready to purchase a ticket. Why? Truly, it is most likely because of the prominent reputation of Dwayne Johnson. Johnson is the perfect actor for this movie and any other movies of this nature. If you know the physique of this man then you will understand that if anyone else had been chosen for the starring role, no one would care. With that being said, that statement does not make the film horrible. At the same time, this movie was not a work of art either.

Fortunately, the quality of this film turned out to be better than critics had previously imagined. There are many who roll their eyes at movies similar to this one because of its reputation of being cliched and watered down. The movie ended how most thought it was going to end, but the film kept you completely engaged and on the edge of your seat the entire time. The cinematic effects were definitely above par for an action movie. On the other hand, the acting was sub-par. There were many humorous scenes, but the acting performance by some of the cast members did not seem to deliver on the big screen.

Overall, “Rampage” is good, well-rounded action movie. I recommend that all thrill seekers watch this movie.
